The RETROfitter provides building owners with an easy-to-use tool that allows them to compare energy usage, costs, and CO₂ emissions as a result of custom retrofit scenarios without being an expert. It is composed by:

• RETROfitter (UNITY front-end)

• Dompark API (back-end)

A prototype front-end (the C40 Project) was created at first to demonstrate and experiment with building retrofitting. It was later replaced by the RETROfitter.

At the time of writing, the RETROfitter is very much an early prototype, showcasing the potential of an easy-to-use tool for building owners to quickly discover the best retrofitting strategies for their buildings. It works at a greater level of detail than the CITYlayers Single-Building and Multi-Building retrofit analysis, providing many more options for the user to include within a retrofit scenario, such as specifying wall constructions, configuring heat pumps, adding rooftop PV and defining mixed building usage. Nevertheless, the intuitive user interface still ensures RETROfitter remains usable without needing to be an energy expert.
